Watch: Coco Gauff appears on the red carpet at the Oscars

The ‘BNP Paribas Open’ in Indian Wells is one of the most prestigious events on the entire calendar and is considered by many to be the ‘fifth Grand Slam’. Among the most anticipated players in this edition of the tournament there is certainly Coco Gauff, who hopes to get a prestigious result in front of her home fans.

The American star took advantage of the imminent start of the Indian Wells tournament to move to Los Angeles, where she attended the Oscars ceremony by appearing on the red carpet with a very elegant outfit.

“I play tennis so I’m not used to this glam. But it’s nice to get dressed for the day” – she said on the red carpet.

Gauff is struggling in 2025

The world No.3 hasn’t exactly been brilliant in the first two months of the 2025 season and will have to raise her level in March, looking to get the best possible result in both Indian Wells and Miami.

Coco was eliminated by Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals at the Australian Open, not a bad result but slightly disappointing for a player of her caliber who hoped to start 2025 in style.

Gauff had a chance to redeem himself at the prestigious WTA 1000 in Doha and Dubai last month, but her run ended immediately in both cases against Marta Kostyuk and McCartney Kessler respectively.

Obviously it is still too early to talk about a crisis, but the next two events will be fundamental to understand Cori’s ambitions this season.

The American player has not been able to take advantage of a period in which Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek are not playing their best tennis for several reasons, a further regret for a champion who aspires to reach the first position in the WTA ranking.

Recently, the world number 3 had the courage to express her opinion on the delicate case involving Elena Rybakina and her coach Stefano Vukov.

“I think it’s right for WTA to protect its players. Many victims don’t even know they are victims, it has happened several times in the world of tennis” – explained Coco.
