An exciting and well-deserved new milestone: Jannik Sinner has received the 2024 ATP Number 1 trophy. A special occasion, because the young Italian received the trophy in front of his crowd in Turin, from the hands of Boris Bcker and in the presence of ATP chairman Andrea Gaudenzi. No Italian tennis player had ever managed to accomplish a feat of this magnitude. Jannik played a dream season and deserved to close the year on the throne of the ATP ranking. A year that saw him win two Slams at the Australian Open and the US Open, three ATP Masters 1000 (Miami, Cincinnati and Shanghai) and a clear hope: to close the season by winning the ATP Finals and the Davis Cup.
Jannik, very emotional, said, after receiving the trophy: “What can I say. As I said yesterday, there is no more beautiful place to receive this trophy. Turin is a special place. I thank everyone for the support. When I was young I never thought I would get to this point, then I did it. The most important thing is to surround yourself with the right people.”
Jannik Sinner is presented as the Year-End #1 for the first time in his career.
The first Italian man in history to hold this trophy.
7 titles.
2 Grand Slams.
Truly the Year of the Fox.

Sinner, who clearly beat Alex de Minaur in his opening match in the ATP Finals group, said: “After this week there is the Davis Cup but the ATP circuit ends here and there is no better place to end. For me it is a great honor, I did not play this year in Italy in Rome and it hurt me a lot. It is even more beautiful to play here, last year we were very close and this year we will see how it goes. We have started very well. The match won against De Minaur and the upcoming one against Fritz? It will be a difficult match with Fritz, it has been a long time since I played an official match, we arrived early to prepare for this tournament. Taylor serves better than Alex, today I managed to return quite well. It will be a problem of the day after tomorrow but now we are thinking about tomorrow’s day of rest. I think it was a great start. I wanted to play in Paris but I could not play because of the virus, it was several weeks of absence from tournaments, but as a first match I am satisfied. Today there was a huge and beautiful crowd, we are here to show good tennis. For me it means a lot to be here, it is a special tournament for me, you have to qualify, it is not a given to get there but now we think match by match and it is necessary to raise the level even more.”
