Watch: Jannik Sinner trains in Dubai, seeks further improvements for 2025

World no. 1 Jannik Sinner is working hard during the off-season. The Italian is in Dubai with his team, preparing for the new season and shaping up his game for the upcoming Australian Open. Jannik trained with the young Spaniard Martin Landaluce. 

Sinner is also enjoying off-court activities, playing golf and football on the beach. World no. 1 will start the 2025 season at the Australian Open, seeking the title defense in Melbourne. Jannik is spending his 27th week on the ATP throne, with more to come in the upcoming months. 

Sinner is not obsessed with records and achievements. He will start the new season without pressure, seeking another good run without thinking too much about his incredible 2024 run. Jannik will be the top favorite in Melbourne, especially if he keeps his form from the second part of 2024.

Sinner’s 2024 brilliance

The Italian embraced a stellar run in the season behind us. He won 73 of 79 matches and lifted eight ATP trophies alongside the Davis Cup title defense. Jannik’s rise started in the second part of 2023. He lost the Wimbledon semi-final to Novak Djokovic. 

A few weeks later, the Italian claimed his first Masters 1000 crown in Toronto and moved closer to the top. Sinner completed the season with the ATP Finals runner-up spot and the Davis Cup crown, Italy’s first since 1976!

Jannik defeated Novak Djokovic two times within ten days and boosted his confidence ahead of 2024. Sinner was among the Australian Open favorites and proved that on the court. The 22-year-old reached the semi-final and arranged the clash against Djokovic. 

The young gun defeated the ten-time champion in four sets, facing no break points and sealing the deal in impressive style. Jannik dropped the opening two sets to Daniil Medvedev in the final. The Italian performed an incredible comeback and prevailed in five sets, celebrating his first Major crown.

Sinner extended his streak in Rotterdam in February. He ousted Alex de Minaur in the title clash and lifted his second trophy of the season, entering March with 1500 ATP points on his tally. Jannik embraced a 16-0 score at the start of the year and reached the Indian Wells semi-final.

He won the opening set against Carlos Alcaraz in style but lost the next two, suffering his first defeat in 2024.

Sinner bounced back in Miami and lifted his third ATP title of the season. The Italian dominated since the quarter-final stage and toppled Daniil Medvedev in the final, celebrating his second Masters 1000 crown. Jannik suffered his second loss of the year in Monte Carlo. 

He fell to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-final, missing his chances in the decider. Sinner withdrew from the Madrid Masters ahead of the quarter-final, dealing with a hip injury and skipping the home Rome Masters. The Italian recovered ahead of Roland Garros.

Jannik reached the semi-final and arranged the clash with Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner led two sets to one before Alcaraz raised his level and prevailed in a five-setter. The ATP Race leader earned enough points to dethrone Novak Djokovic, becoming the 29th world no. 1. 

Sinner competed as the world’s best player for the first time in Halle. He ousted his good friend Hubert Hurkacz in the final en route to his fourth ATP title of the season. Jannik reached the Wimbledon semi-final, hoping to go further than a year ago.

However, he struggled physically against Daniil Medvedev and fell in five sets despite a great effort. Sinner missed a set point in the third set and experienced a tight loss. The Italian missed the Olympic Games and returned to action in Montreal.

Jannik lost the Canada Masters crown following the quarter-final defeat to Andrey Rublev. Sinner bounced back in Cincinnati, prevailing over Alexander Zverev and beating Frances Tiafoe in the final en route to his third Masters 1000 crown. 

The Italian was the US Open favorite, especially after early exits of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. Jannik defeated seven rivals and clinched his second Major crown, beating Taylor Fritz in the final and extending his dominance. 

The year-end no. 1 race was over, but Sinner felt hungry for more! He reached the Beijing Open final and battled against Carlos Alcaraz. Two great rivals pushed each other to the limits, and the Spaniard prevailed after a massive battle, delivering the Italian’s only loss in the ATP finals this year.

As usual, Jannik bounced back and conquered his third Masters 1000 crown of the season in Shanghai. The Italian faced Novak Djokovic in the final and beat the legend 7-6, 6-3, providing Novak’s first defeat in the finals at this event. 

Two rivals moved to Riyadh and entered the Six Kings Slam with other players from the top. Sinner beat Daniil Medvedev, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, taking home $6 million, the most significant prize in tennis history! World no. 1 withdrew from the Paris Masters due to illness.

He was the favorite at the ATP Finals in Turin. The Italian beat five rivals in straight sets, lifting his eighth trophy of the season and wrapping up the year with 1500 ATP points. Jannik led Italy at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga. World no. 1 earned three victories and helped his country defend the title.
