Brooks Koepka has been a hot topic on the golf scene for several weeks now. The popular American golfer is associated with a return to the PGA Tour, the base of golf, the place where it all began. The multiple major winner is bound by a contract with LIV Golf until 2026, but his future remains a big unknown.
However, in order to at least partially solve the dilemmas of some, Brooks Koepka stressed during one of the press conferences that his priority is to fulfill the contract, and only then think about the next steps.
“Everybody seems to have their own opinion and no one asks me,” he said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“Like I’ve said before, I’m not in those rooms. I’ve got a contract obligation out here to fulfil, and then we’ll see what happens.
“I don’t know where I’m going, so I don’t know how everybody else does.”
Koepka explained that he is currently focusing on how to improve his game, especially in the big tournaments, and how his team can win. He added that next year he will focus on how to improve the game again. The 34-year-old emphasized that it is a constant cycle, and that there is no new information, while others seem to know more than he does.
LIV Golf and PGA Tour: What can we expect?
Both sides, LIV Golf and the PGA Tour have still not reached a final deal, although it could be a key thing for the future of golf. This would probably change the future of Koepka, who would not get such questions or have to think about the future and his decisions. The general impression is that golfers are waiting for the situation to unfold, and then make decisions regarding the future.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan stressed a few weeks ago that as part of the negotiations, they believe there is room to integrate important aspects of LIV Golf into the PGA Tour platform. He added that they are doing everything they can to bring the two sides closer and enable their merger.
