It’s that time again!!! Let’s talk Wimbledon Predictions 2023. Will Novak continue his slam run and set more history? Who can stop Iga? Will it be Carlos? Can Rybakina repeat? So much excitement!! First though, I’m going to jump on the draw bandwagon. The draw has taken out much of the drama, at least in terms of my predictions here. I’d even say it’s taken the fun out of it. Is it rigged? I don’t know, but it sure looks like Wimbledon wants two players to win. I will say that I’m going to set aside my best of 3 or best of 5 typical debate format and just get right to the point. Let’s get started.

Women: With a draw that doesn’t require her to face Rybakina, Sabalenka, Kvitova or a big-hitter like Madison Keys coming off her pre-Wimbledon victory, Iga’s path couldn’t be better set up. Caroline Garcia, Coco Gauff, and Jessica Pegula will be her toughest competition before the finals. I can’t see any of them challenging Iga. Garcia has firepower but is inconsistent. Gauff is getting closer every day, but I’d say 1-2 years away. Pegula is right there. She has to believe it, but I don’t think she’ll get there this tournament. So, if Iga goes to the finals, who will she face?

Well, Sabalenka has the easiest path up to the semis facing at worst Krejcikova or Keys. Rybakina and Kvitova would have to face in the quarters before going on to face Sabalenka. That’a s tough road! Picture Ryakina beating Kvitova, Sabalenka and then Swiatek? I like Kvitova a lot this year. She’s a great grasscourt player and has gotten back into the top 10. She’s playing the best she’s played in years. But her road through Rybakina, Sabalenka, Swiatek is too much. That’s leading me to Sabalenka vs Swiatek in the finals.

Who will win? Swiatek in three sets. Sabalenka will make just a few key errors to cost her. I thought Swiatek played with a determination and tenacity I was wanting to see from her at the French. She took a proverbial “punch” in the face, but got back up. Iga will find a way.

Men: Djokovic is the heavy favorite for his half of the draw. Ruud, Fritz, and Sinner are his biggest challenges. Ruud is improving and I thought pushed Djokovic at times more than the score indicated at the French, but not on grass. Fritz and Sinner are interesting, either could challenge Novak. Both have firepower necessary on grass. Fritz has had some big matches now as an Indian Wells champion and some Nadal battles. Djoker has too much. He’s too surgical. He takes the ball early. He won’t miss when it counts. He’s unbelievably fit.

On the other side, Carlos will have to deal with potentially Medvedev, Rune, Tsitsipas, plus some interesting floaters like Tiafoe, Zverev, De Minaur, Korda. It should be a fun side of the draw. I’ll be interested to see how the big servers do. Eubanks is coming off his first tournament win, Cressy, Shelton, and Raonic all will be tough to break. Raonic is a former finalist. If the surface plays fast and you end up in tie-break duals, that can create upsets. No Wimbledon Predictions 2023 would be complete without mention of Andy Murray. We’ll all of course be pulling for him. He’s got a winnable first round match against a wild card. I think he’s got a shot to get past Tsitsipas in the second round. Still, I don’t think his body will hold up much beyond that. Shifting back to your projected finalist, when the dust settles, I like Carlos in this half and the dream match-up against Djokovic.

Who will win? On the one hand, I think Carlos will overcome his cramping issue from the French and be at his best. He has a great team around him and I don’t see them not adjusting. That gives Carlos a strong chance. He has the firepower. He has the consistency. He has the drop shot. He’s got it all. But, Djokovic is driven. He’s chasing history. He won’t make the same mistake he made at the U.S. Open with Medvedev where he let the pressure of calendar year grand slam get to him. It’s like serving for a set with a two break lead. If you’re “nervy” on the first try and give back a break, you usually figure it out on the second try. Djokovic will figure it out!!

Wimbledon Predictions 2023: Swiatek and Djokovic will be your 2023 Wimbledon Champions. I know, not exactly a risky prediction. You can blame the draws!
