Wise Jannik Sinner doesn’t reply to Nick Kyrgios’ provocations

Jannik Sinner talked for the first time about Nick Kyrgios, during the media day of the Australian Open 2025. The Italian was quite clear with his words in the press conference that precedes his first round, scheduled between Monday and Tuesday, responding (so to speak) to the Australian’s provocations regarding the Clostebol doping scandal.

The most cited topics by the media could only be the ongoing doping case and the social controversies fomented by some Tour tennis players.

The Italian is aware of the transition phase on the Clostebol affair, considering that the CAS in Lausanne has not yet set a date for the trial.

“I know exactly. We are in a moment where we don’t know a lot of things. Obviously I think about it and I would be lying if I said I forgot about it, I haven’t. This is something that has been with me for a while, but it is what it is and now I’m trying to prepare for this Slam,” he said.

If anything has changed about the treatments after the situation experienced, Jannik analyzed: “I’m not nervous, nothing has changed. Before I was very careful about each of the drugs I took and what I ate. If I opened a new jar, I would throw it away and open another. I’ve always been very careful about this kind of thing.”

The Italian then finally talked about the issue related to Kyrgios and the controversies (and provocations) perpetuated by the former Wimbledon Championships finalist in recent months.

“I don’t think I have to reply. How do I block out all this noise? It’s not something you just push aside and stop thinking about. Deep down I know exactly what happened and that’s how I plan to block it out. I didn’t do anything wrong and that’s why I’m here and I’m still playing. I don’t want to respond to what Nick said or any other player said. I think the most important thing is to have people around me that I trust and who know what’s going on. That’s all,” he explained.
