World no. 22 Sebastian Korda underwent surgery on his right elbow a couple of days ago. Two months ago, the 24-year-old cracked the top-15 following the ATP 500 Washington title and a Masters 1000 semi-final in Montreal. However, he suffered an early loss in Cincinnati and struggled against Tomas Machac at the US Open, requiring a medical timeout on his right arm and undergoing surgery a few weeks later. Sebastian embraced a procedure as the best option, hoping to return injury-free and chase more notable results in 2025. Korda is 31-19 this season, earning a couple of good results and extending his top-30 run. He reached the semi-final in Adelaide at the beginning of the season and fell to Andrey Rublev in the third round in Melbourne. Sebastian retired against Andrey in Rotterdam and suffered early losses in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Bucharest, Madrid, Rome and Paris, often against the rivals from the top.

Sebastian Korda underwent right elbow surgery.

Korda turned the tables in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, ousting four rivals in straight sets before falling to Alex de Minaur in the title clash. The American lost to Tommy Paul in the Queen’s semi-final and experienced a tight defeat to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round at Wimbledon in a match with four tie breaks. Sebastian took a break and returned stronger in Washington. His father, Petr, won this tournament in the 90s, and he joined the list of champions, earning his second ATP crown. Korda defeated Frances Tiafoe in the semi-final and overcame an early deficit against Flavio Cobolli in the title clash for a career-best result.

Using that boost, the 24-year-old scored wins over Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev in Montreal en route to his second Masters 1000 semi-final. Sebastian battled against Alexei Popyrin and experienced a 7-6, 6-3 loss in just over an hour and a half. The American grabbed two breaks but struggled behind the initial shot, playing against 11 break points and giving serve away four times. Korda could not repeat that run in Cincinnati, notching an early loss to Pablo Carreno Busta following a poor performance in set number two. Sebastian made a winning start at the US Open before falling to Tomas Machac in straight sets. The American struggled behind the first and second serve, suffering six breaks and spraying almost 40 unforced errors. The 24-year-old struggled with the pain in his right arm and underwent surgery a couple of weeks later, hoping for a fresh start in 2025.
