Xander Schauffele expresses disappointment over missing Torrey Pines events

Xander Schauffele is used to various challenges during his career, but it seems that this last one was especially difficult for him. After a phenomenal season behind him, the famous golfer entered the new season determined, wanting not only to preserve the No. 2 position, but even to overtake Scottie Scheffler.

However, a rib injury briefly dashed his dreams, as the famous golfer missed two tournaments this season, in which he previously used to be impressive. In an interview with the media, Schauffele admitted how difficult it was for him to withdraw from the last tournament, not performing at Torrey Pines.

“I was sitting at home on the West Coast, that s***** for me,” he said, as quoted by Kelo.

“One of my dreams is to play Torrey South earlier in the year with long rough, cold, South only. And so to miss Torrey twice really, really s*****. I tried. I tried. Nothing’s worse than hitting a wedge out of thick rough and having everything come to a complete stop, you could make it worse. So that was an easy decision for me to make, thinking of long-term goals.”

The famous golfer will compete at Bay Hill, after tests that determined that he was indeed able to compete. Schauffele is not sure whether he will have problems or not, but admits that he was conservative with everything, hoping that it would bear fruit.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational is an interesting challenge for everyone, and several names are emerging as the main favorites in this competition. However, only one will celebrate in the end, and who it will be remains to be seen.
