Djokovic Out, Alcaraz vs Fritz Heats Up at ATP Finals

The drama at the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals in Turin just flipped. Novak Djokovic has withdrawn with a shoulder injury, paving the way for Carlos Alcaraz to face Taylor Fritz in a freshly loaded showdown.

Djokovic escaped Musetti in Athens to claim his 101st title, but admitted he isn’t fit enough to go deep at Turin. “I felt there’s no chance for me to go through the entire tournament,” he said.

Fritz, aware of the spotlight, referenced his Laver Cup upset: “At Laver Cup, I was able to beat him to the punch,” he said of Alcaraz. With Djokovic gone, the path is clearer—but danger still lurks.

First Ball Forehand Match Point: With the big favourite out and this new Alcaraz–Fritz matchup, the Finals just became a show-and-tell for the ‘Next Gen vs Established’ debate. Don’t blink.
